Clair L. “Tarz” Shope, 80, of Mill Hall passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at UPMC Lock Haven Hospital where he was a patient since Thursday.
Born August 11, 1941 in Monument, PA. He was married to the former Nancy L. Beach who died April 18, 2021. They celebrated 21 years of marriage together.
He worked for Conrail and retired after 26 years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding 4-wheelers.
Surviving are three sons, Leroy T. Young, Jr. of Lock Haven, Raymond L. (Nadira) Young of Scarsdale, NY and Jim (Jennifer) Merrifield of Indiana and four daughters, Mariah Shope and T. Nicole Young both of Rote, Dusty Merrifield-Bennett of Nashville, TN and Staci Merrifield-Jarvis of Indiana.
Several grandchildren and great grandchildren survive along with a nephew Rick Confer and a niece Tresia Rickert.
He was preceded in death by a sister Barbara Confer.
Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be at Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.
