Wilbur L. Young, Sr.

Wilbur  L. Young, Sr., 90, of Avis, passed away Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at his residence. He was the beloved husband of Anna J. (McCloskey) Young. The couple were married on December 27, 1957 and celebrated 63 years of marriage together.

Born June 13, 1931 in Beech Creek. Wilbur worked as a maintenance manager of Alta Products for over 40 years until his retirement. In his spare time, he loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his wife, Anna, Wilbur is survived by three sons, Wilbur L. (Eileen) Young, Jr. of McElhattan, Wayne (Cathy) Young of Castanea, and Eugene Young of Lock Haven; one daughter, Carol Carr of Lock Haven; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and two great-great grandchildren; three brothers, James Young of Lock Haven, Leroy Young of Lock Haven, and Robert Young of Jersey Shore; and two sisters, Ruthe Swartz of Alabama, and Bonnie Cornell of Lock Haven. Wilbur was preceded in death by five brothers, Kenneth, Clarence, George, Charles, and Harold; and three sisters, Caroline, Geraldine, and Bernice.

A viewing for friends and family will be from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, July 16, 2021 at Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd, Mill Hall.

The funeral service will be the following day on Saturday, July 17, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Susan Radel of Forrest Baptist Church officiating. Burial will be private at Dunnstown Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
