Renovo

Thomas E. Ransdorf, Sr., 89, of Renovo passed away Thursday, January 7, 2021 from complications of COVID-19 at Bucktail Medical Center in South Renovo. He is survived by his beloved wife, Alice G. (Summerson) Ransdorf. The couple married on September 4, 1952 and shared over 68 years of marriage together.

Born May 3, 1931 in South Renovo, he was a son of the late Eugene W. and Anna M. (Middlekoff) Ransdorf. He served honorably in the United States Army as a mechanic in the 782nd Airborne, Ft. Bragg.

Throughout his life, Thomas worked as a mechanic and welder and served as the supervisor for Leidy Township where he was a roadmaster. Out of all of his jobs, he most enjoyed working on the farm.

He was a lifetime member of the Elks Lodge #334, Mason Lodge #495, and an associate member of the Pleasant Valley Grange #1479.

In addition to his wife, Thomas is survived by two sons, Ronald L. (Susan) Ransdorf of S. Renovo, and Joseph H. (Sandy) Ransdorf of Renovo; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; one brother, Jeremiah Ransdorf of Maple Falls, Wash.; and son-in-law, Dennis Gentzyel of Shintown. Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Thomas E. Ransdorf, Jr. of Renovo; one daughter, Diane S. Gentzyel; three brothers, William, Eugene Jr., and James Ransdorf; and two sisters, Jeanetta Bittings and Annette Ransdorf.

Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Maxwell Funeral Home in Renovo has charge of arrangements.
