Stephen C. Mitchell

Stephen C. Mitchell, 68 of Lock Haven PA passed away unexpectedly and much too soon on October 28, 2023. Stephen was born in Flint Michigan November 18, 1954, and was raised in North Andover Massachusetts. He was educated at the University of Massachusetts Lowell earning a bachelor's of science degree in Chemical Engineering. He then went on to earn a Master’s degree in Business Administration from Farleigh Dickinson University.

He had a very successful career as a chemical engineer and chemical plant manager, often improving processes using alternative energy while increasing profits. He was highly intelligent and methodical which are attributes he transferred to anything he pursued including golf, jazz and blues guitar playing, skiing, crossword puzzles, and, more recently rebuilding classic BSA motorcycles. Despite his success, he lived a humble life and took the greatest pleasures in his walks with nature along the dike levee or visiting with his family in New Hampshire.

His unflappable, realistic, authentic personality lent itself to a quick, dry wit enjoyed by all those who knew him. He was a well-known figure in Lock Haven having made his home there for the past 30 years, and was often seen riding his bike or walking. He enjoyed motorcycle rides with his friend Gio and helping his neighbor Anthony who often stopped over to have coffee on the porch with Steve or ask for advice on home repair. There was very little Steve didn’t know about or couldn’t do and he was generous with both his knowledge and skills.

He will be deeply and sadly missed by his older brother, John Mitchell of North Andover Massachusetts, and three sisters; Judith Mitchell of Connecticut, Valerie Magarian of Sarasota Florida, and Christine Hawkins of Salisbury NH. He was predeceased by both parents and leaves 7 nieces and nephews.

He will be interred in Salisbury NH at Maplewood cemetery on November 10, 2023, with a reception to follow.

The family will plan a celebration of life for Stephen in Lock Haven PA at a future date to be determined.
