Richard D. Hevner, 95, of Little Italy, passed away on Monday, May 19, 2025, at Eagle Ridge Personal Care Home, Mill Hall, where he resided since January.
Born April 26, 1930, in Kane, Pa., he was a son of the late Philip and Maude (Crossley) Hevner.
He was married to the former Alice J. Redis, who died in 2015.
Richard worked as a mechanic at International Paper, retiring in 1995.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping and hiking.
Richard also was a marathon runner earlier in life. Before entering the Air Force, he assisted in building the Summerson Mountain School House. He served in the Air Force from 1947 -1950.
Surviving are two sons, Glenn R. (Denise) Hevner, of S. Renovo, and Craig S. (Lisa) Hevner, of Shintown; three daughters, Barbara J. (Charles) Newlen, of Renovo, Terri L. Hevner, of North Bend, and Crystal L. DeLaurentis, of Delaware Water Gap; 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; and a sister, Ruby Prebble, of North Bend.
Richard was preceded in death by a son, Mark "Mick" Hevner, in 2020; two brothers, Phil and Joe; and a sister, Shirley.
The family would like to thank Eagle Ridge Personal Care Home and UPMC Hospice for their wonderful care and compassion.
Maxwell Funeral Home in Renovo has charge of the arrangements.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
