Lois A. McGill

Lois A. McGill, 87, wife of Robert T. McGill, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on March 14, 2024, in Mill Hall, PA.

Born in Lock Haven on July 22, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Arlington and Genevieve (Wetzel) Gunsallus. On August 19, 1954, Lois married Robert (Bob) T. McGill, who survives at home in Mill Hall, PA. Bob and Lois shared 69 years of marriage and together they raised two children, Raymond (Diane) McGill and Karen (Curtis) Willar (Mill Hall, PA). Lois was dedicated to her four grandchildren, Brodrik and Seth McGill (Lock Haven, PA) and Reed (Lock Haven, PA) and her only granddaughter, Arminta Willar (Pittsburgh, PA). Also, surviving, is her step grandson, Alex Russell (Williamsport PA). She is also survived by one sister, Janet (Donald) Weise (Swissdale, PA).

Lois was a graduate of the class of 1954 from Lock Haven High School and a member of the Salona United Methodist Church. She was employed at the A&P in Lock Haven and CAPS doctor’s office in Mill Hall, PA. In 1977, her and Bob owned and operated Ridge Crest Manor Mobile Home Park (Ridge Crest Community, Howard, PA). She was very proud of Ridge Crest and enjoyed finding homes for her many residents.

Lois loved to travel and explore the different cultures in the world. Lois and Bob did extensive traveling together to faraway and exotic places, booked by her son, Ray, at Nittany Travel. She once sailed around the world and loved to talk about her adventures. Bob and Lois spent their winters in Florida for over 40 years, finally buying a home in Hobe Sound, Florida, where they were “snowbirds” and lived for the past 17 winters. They have many good friends from around the country, but recently returned to their Pennsylvania home, to be closer to their family.

Lois was a bright, colorful spark of light, whom could bring any garden to life. It was a proud moment when Lois won the “Garden of the Month” award and she was very proud of her many beautiful landscapes. She loved to read books and play “Words with Friends”. She also enjoyed creative art projects and could often be seen with a crochet hook or knitting needles in hand, creating beautiful wearable art with her craft. She enjoyed thrifting with her daughter, Karen, to turn unusual items found from “trash to treasure”. She was a wonderful artistic painter and everywhere you look around their beautiful home, you can find the art she created. Lois was also a very good chef, often making her family meals consisting of different types of cuisine. Lois enjoyed Penn State football and the Art Festival. She enjoyed camping at the Grange Fair, as well as the Clinton Country Fair, and looked forward to traveling across the country in their motor home. Bob and Lois once drove to Alaska in their RV and spent many summers exploring local and distant areas, while enjoying her time with Bob. Lois lived every day to the fullest, had a marvelous sense of humor, and could brighten any person’s day with her outgoing social skills. She was most proud of her children and grandchildren, and loved spending quality time with all her family members.
