Eleanor R. (Hess) Zerbe

Eleanor R. (Hess) Zerbe, 90, of Pine Loganton Road, Lock Haven passed away Thursday, September 9, 2021 at her residence.

Born April 21, 1931 in Lock Haven she was a daughter of the late Guy and Elizabeth (Dauberman) Hess.

She was married on August 28, 1948 to Arthur B. Zerbe and they celebrated 46 years of marriage together. He died in 1994.

Eleanor worked for Sylvania, Bloomsburg Silk Mill, Clinton County Correctional Facility and retired from Lock Haven University Bentley Hall in 2013.

Eleanor was a member of the McElhattan United Methodist Church.

In her spare time, you could always find her mowing her grass, tending to her rosebushes or just being lazy in her pool. She enjoyed canning and attending any event that her family members were in.

Eleanor served as a past present hospitality greeter and a chaperone for many years with the Lockett’s Drill Team. She enjoyed baking, spending time with her grandchildren, being outside and loved her dog “Babe” who was always by her side.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathy Z. (William) Conrad, Patty Z. (Rick) Gardner and a step-daughter Julie Probst all of Lock Haven. One grandson Jim “J.” (Becky) Frey of South Caroline and three step-grandchildren Sarah, Austin and Ethan.

She was preceded in death by a sister Pauline Barner, two half-sisters, Alberta Baer and Dorothy Bilby and a half-brother Chester Baer.

The family would like to thank her caregivers Nicole, Sylvia, Carol and Nikki for the wonderful care Eleanor received.

The funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 12, 2021 at the Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall with Nancy McHenry officiating. Friends and relatives will be received one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be private.
