Eleanor K. (Aungst) Malizia, 89, of South Williamsport, formerly of Renovo, passed away Saturday, February 20, 2021 at The Gatehouse in Williamsport. She was the wife of the late Romolo C. Malizia who passed away March 30, 1992.
Born April 2, 1931 in Renovo, she was the daughter of the late William and Florence (Landon) Aungst. On September 27, 1952 Eleanor married Romolo in Renovo and the couple shared 39 years of marriage together.
Throughout her life, she participated in several family-owned businesses including the Malizia Store in Renovo where she worked with her husband and family until moving to Williamsport in 1985. After the passing of her husband, she worked for her son’s family-owned businesses, The Family Afare Restaurant and Safe World in Montoursville.
Eleanor was a lifelong member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She enjoyed watching her Gunsmoke and western TV shows and cooking for her family.
She is survived by three children, Romolo C. Malizia II of Montoursville, Lynn M. Malizia of S. Williamsport, and Stephen W. (Vonda) Malizia of Montoursville; seven grandchildren, Allyson L. (Kazuo Semitsu) Malizia, Romolo C. (Megan) Malizia III, Nicholas P. Malizia, Dominic M. (Katie) Malizia, Michael A. Clees, Tawnya M. Clees, and Stephen W. Malizia II; and one great-granddaughter, Yuna H. Semitsu. In addition to her parents and beloved husband, Eleanor was preceded in death by one grandson, Anthony S. Malizia; eight brothers; and five sisters.
Services are private at the convenience of the family. Burial will be at St. Joseph Cemetery in Hyner, PA. Maxwell Funeral Home, in Renovo has charge of arrangements.
