Edgar C. "Charlie" Burney

FARWELL - Edgar C. ”Charlie” Burney, 84, died Saturday, August 27, 2022 at Susquehanna Health Home Care & Hospice, Williamsport.

He was born in Gleasonton and was the son of the late William and Sarah C. (Douglas) Burney.

On August 10, 1957, Charlie married the late Margaret L. “Peggy” (Long) and they celebrated 56 years of marriage together until her death on January 5, 2014.

Charlie served his country proudly in the United States Navy and was honorably discharged on July 9, 1962,

He was a graduate of Renovo High School, Class of 1956.  He went on to attend and earn his associates degree in business administration from Williamsport School of Commerce in 1983.

Charlie worked for American Color & Chemical Corp., Lock Haven until it closed in 1982 and then went on to work for Bucktail Medical Center, Renovo for 16 years and retired in 2000.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #495 of Renovo.  He enjoyed line dancing, reading, crocheting, diamond painting, rock painting most of all he loved spending time with his family.

Charlie is survived by four daughters and one son-in-law; Kathy A. Schy of Las Vegas, NV, Sandra J. Stevenson and her companion Dale Smith of Avis, Lori A. Hopkins of Greenwood, SC and Crystal and Jeffery Palmer of Quakertown, six grandchildren and their spouses; John and Paige Stevenson, Holly and James Hartman, Michael Stevenson and companion Becki Hockenberry, Renee and Daniel Smith, Tyler Palmer and Alexander Palmer and companion Sierra Hughes and four great grandchildren; Kimbell and Kylie Stevenson and Noah and Jillian Hartman.

In addition to his parents and wife, Charlie was preceded in death by one brother; Donald Burney and one sister; Naomi “Sis” Livingston.

All services for Charlie will be handled privately at a later date at the convenience of the family.  Arrangements are being handled by Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 Fifth Street, Renovo.
