Christine Ann Bierly

Christine Ann Bierly, a lifelong resident of Avis, passed away on November 27, 2023.  She was the daughter of W. Harry Bierly and Abby Cowher Bierly.  She graduated from Jersey Shore High School in 1947 and also earned her Bachelor’s degree from Lock Haven University in 1969.

Christine loved her family and was passionate about her heritage.  She was gifted as a teacher and also at researching and documenting the local history of Avis, Jersey Shore and McElhattan.  She was a member of the Avis Methodist Church and OES Chapter #23 Eastern Star.

She is survived by her niece Mrs. Christine A. Brown (James) of The Villages, Florida and two grandnieces Shelly Kendeffy of State College and Abby Myers of Oregon.  Preceding her in death is her sister Jacqueline Myers (Richard) and her nephew Richard N. Myers (Patricia).

There will be no visitation.  Burial will be held at the convenience of the family.

Helt Funeral Chapel, 232 Hogan Blvd., Mill Hall has charge of arrangements.
