Bernie Harlow Huseth, 90, of Renovo passed away Monday, March 30, 2020 at UPMC Williamsport Hospital. He was the beloved husband of Betsy E. (Anderson) Huseth. The couple shared almost 40 years of marriage together.

Born March 5, 1930 in Minneapolis he was the son of the late Clarence B. and Oriole M. (McCornack) Huseth. Bernie served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 to 1954 during the Korean War. He loved his time in the Navy where he worked aboard the USS Manchester as a fire technician.

Bernie retired from Unisys Corporation after 35 years of working as a technician in the model shop. He served as the current commander of the American Legion Post #442, Renovo and chaplain for the VFW Post #6178, Renovo. He was also a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Renovo.

In his free time, he loved to make stained glass, read, garden, spend time with his cats, and ride his Honda Scooter around town. Bernie rode Harleys since 1942, up until he switched to the Scooter that became the “Harley of his heart”.

Bernie had a very mechanical mind and was always interested in how things worked. As a member of the Experimental Aircraft Association, he would build and fly small airplanes including “Betsy’s Taxi” a bright yellow two-person airplane that he flew with his wife.

In addition to his wife, Betsy, Bernie is survived by two sons, Bernerd C. (Gloria) Huseth of Princeton, MN, and Kelly S. (Monica) Foster of Navarre, FL; four daughters, Neva L. Banaei of St. Paul, MN, Lynn E. (Jeff) Calger of Coon Rapids, MN, Chandelle L. (John) Whitney of Alton, NH, and Shannon E. (Dennis) Norenberg of Colchester, CT; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Patreen (Ted) Tinjum of Lewiston, Washington. Bernie was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jerome Huseth, and one granddaughter, Nicole Whitney.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Maxwell Funeral Home, 205 5th St., in Renovo has charge of arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made for the Renovo 16th Street War Memorial through the American Legion Post #442, 628 Erie Ave, Renovo, PA 17764.
