Listen to Obituary

Alberta P. (Burrows) Johnson, 75, of South Renovo left this earth on October 31, 2025 to join her beloved son, Christopher L. Johnson, and her “Ohana” or Hawaiian family in heaven. Alberta was 75 years old when she passed away peacefully at her daughter's home in Woolrich.

Born on March 29, 1950, Alberta was the last surviving member of her family. At the age of 16, Alberta’s first job was at the Dole Pineapple Cannery as a trimmer. At the age of 18, Alberta married and began her new life in Renovo, Pennsylvania. She was a dedicated and very busy homemaker, wife and mother of four children who were one year apart in age.

Alberta enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays; baking nut rolls, cookies, pies and cakes as well as cooking Hawaiian dishes for her children and children’s friends. Alberta’s kitchen was known as the “gathering” hub of friends, children and her children’s friends throughout the years. Music trumped television in the home that she made for her family. Cake decorating classes and skills far surpassed her expectations of creating beautiful and detailed flowers made out of icing. Alberta was an avid pet owner and lover over the years to Princess, Goldie, Bones, Tanner, and Pegasus. Albert enjoyed listening to live music or bands in the community, dancing as well as playing cards.

Most of all, Alberta traveled with her children to Honolulu, Hawaii several times to immerse the Hawaiian culture into their lives while exploring historical sites, beaches, bakeries, food markets, and spending time with her “Ohana” or family as well as close friends. Until she passed away, Alberta continued to enjoy spending time with family and close friends who were Brenda Wolfe, Vickey Fantaskey and Craig Leonard. Alberta retired from Keystone Central School District as a teacher assistant, housekeeper and custodian for over 20 years. Also, she worked part-time at Bucktail Medical Center as a cook in the kitchen. She also waitressed at the Kingsley Inn of Renovo.

Alberta is survived by three daughters; Terrie (William) Sproul of Woolrich, Paula DeSeau of Williamsport, PA and Misty (Chris) Bain of Gold Canyon, AZ.

She is survived by nine grandchildren; Bethany (Carl) Burrows; Christopher (Daniela) Bain; David (Michiko) Hagaman, Avery (Danyell) Hagaman, Garrett Hagaman; Derek, Kaiden and Ethan DeSeau; Kailey and Madelyn Bain as well as five great grandchildren who are Noah, Atlas, Will, and Rory Hagaman and Kaden Burrows.

Alberta is preceded in death by her son, Christopher Johnson; her parents Harriett Thomas and Albert Burrows; her brothers John Thomas, Alfred Jaurez, and Bobby Burrows in addition to her sister, Helene Nail.

Services and interment will be private at North Bend Cemetery.

Maxwell Funeral Home, Renovo has charge of the arrangements.
